Cyprus villas with private pools: what to check

“Private pool” describes who uses it—not its temperature, privacy or suitability for children. Five checks reveal more than a wide-angle photograph.

fees, dates and limitations

Heating is not one feature

Heating may be unavailable in some months, charged separately or designed only to lift water relative to outside temperature. Ask for method, fee, lead time and actual limitations.

Outside peak summer, ask when sun reaches the pool. A south-facing terrace and a shaded courtyard feel different on the same day.

  • Available on your exact dates?
  • Fee per day, week or stay?
  • Must it be ordered early?
  • Any weather limitations?

Private is not secluded

A pool can be exclusive yet visible from balconies, roads or paths. Review the site layout and ask directly if privacy matters.

For children, establish whether a barrier fully encloses the water and its gate self-closes. “Fenced garden” is not “fenced pool.”

Comfort around water

Count shaded seats, not just loungers. Check depth, steps, shower and bathroom distance. Make sure a large group can circulate safely.

Read rules on glass, noise and maintenance access. A clear cleaning schedule is a positive sign.
